Breakfast is such an important part of any weight loss plan, as it gets your metabolism revved up after a night of fasting. Yet sometimes it gets overlooked, and dieters may shy away from it as a way to save calories. I know that I skimped on breakfast or simply grabbed the first thing I saw in the kitchen for years. But these days I make sure to eat a healthy breakfast every day.
Here are some tasty breakfast ideas for a healthy start to the day!
Ezekiel or sprouted bread with a pat of butter and 2 tsp. of raw almond butterGreek yogurt with berries cut up into it, sprinkled with granola or nutsA hard boiled egg and a piece of Ezekiel toast with unsweetened preservesFrench toast: Yes, this can be a healthy breakfast, too. Here’s a great recipe for it, by best-selling diet expert, Isabel De Los Rios’Scrambled eggs with goat’s cheese, a slice of sprouted grain bread with unsweetened preserves, and a veggie sausageA hot bowl of oatmeal, sprinkled with cinnamon, walnuts and raisins2 small-med. sized flax or buckwheat pancakes with a tsp. of pure maple syrup or applesauce on topA small veggie omelet and 1/2 sprouted grain muffin with a dab of butter
No need to count calories, unless you’re following a plan that requires it. That said, try and keep it to a portion that fits onto a small plate or medium sized bowl. Breakfast not only helps you to jump start your metabolism, but it helps you think more clearly. Besides, then at lunch you won’t be starved, and will therefore be less prone to munching on snacks or eating fast food. So do yourself a favor and give yourself a nurturing breakfast each day. Take your supplements and plan a 10 minute walk at break or lunchtime, and you’ll be on track for a great day.
